    Unaccompanied Migrant Children

    One of the unfortunate results of the Syrian refugee crisis has been the increasing number of unaccompanied children travelling within Europe, living at migrant camps in Calais, and the plight of those trying to make their way to the United Kingdom or other countries within Europe. A Westminster Hall debate on the issue of unaccompanied children will be held on Tuesday 19 April 2016 at 0930hrs. The Member in charge of the debate is David Burrowes.

    The Macur Review into historic child abuse

    The Report of the Macur Review was laid before Parliament on 17 March 2016. It is an independent review of the Tribunal of Inquiry, chaired by Sir Ronald Waterhouse, into the abuse of children in care in North Wales since 1974. A Westminster Hall debate on the Macur Review has been scheduled for Tuesday 22 March 2016 at 1630. Liz Saville Roberts will be leading the debate.

    The £35,000 salary requirement to settle in the UK

    From 6 April 2016, some skilled non-EEA workers with Tier 2 visas will only be eligible to stay in the UK permanently if they are earning at least £35,000. A related e-petition has been uploaded to Parliament’s e-petition website calling for the £35k threshold to be scrapped. Parliament will be debating this petition on Monday 7 March 2016.
