Economic indicators are quick-read summaries of the latest data focusing on different aspects of the UK economy. The full suite of indicators can be found on the main Economic Indicators page.
GDP can be analysed in terms of the output produced by different industries, or in terms of spending by households, business and government.
GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.5% in February 2025, following no growth (0.0%) in January.
Services are the largest part of the economy – making up four-fifths of output in 2023. Service sector output grew by 0.3% in February 2025.
Manufacturing output grew by 2.2% in February 2025. Manufacturing is part of the wider production sector; production sector output grew by 1.5% in February 2025.
Construction sector output grew by 0.4% in February 2025.

Household spending is the largest element of spending across the economy, accounting for 60% of the total in 2024.
In October to December 2024, there was an increase of 0.1% in household spending compared with the previous quarter.
Government consumption is estimated to have grown by 0.5% in October to December 2024, and investment (GFCF) decreased by 0.6%. Exports were down 1.8% and imports increased by 2.9%.
