The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance or not in work and claiming Universal Credit decreased by 6,500 between April and May 2015, to 791,800.
The unemployment rate was 5.5% in February – April 2015. The ILO measure of unemployment was 1.81 million people, down 43,000 from the previous quarter and down 349,000 from the previous year.
The number of people in employment was 31.05 million in February-April 2015, up 114,000 from the previous quarter and up 424,000 from the previous year. The employment rate was 73.4%.
