The Northern Ireland (Regional Rates and Energy) Bill 2017-19 was introduced into the House of Commons on Wednesday 21 March 2018. The text of the Bill and Explanatory Notes will be made available on the Bill pages on the Parliamentary website.
The Bill would provide authority for the UK Government to take two actions arising from the ongoing absence of a functioning Northern Ireland Executive. These are:
- To provide legislative authority for the collection of regional domestic and non-domestic rates;
- To provide continued legislative authority for the Renewable Heat Incentive to operate in Northern Ireland.
