On 15 July 2015, the House will hold a general debate on English votes for English laws. When the debate was first announced on 2 July, the Government had intended that decisions would be taken on amending Standing Orders to provide for English Votes for English Laws, as the Government had announced in the Queen’s Speech. However, following concerns about the process and speed with which the Government was introducing the changes being expressed in an emergency debate on 7 July, on 9 July, the Leader of the House announced the Standing Order changes would be decided upon at a later date.
