This Commons Library debate pack has been prepared for the debate on the Cancer Strategy one year on, taking place the House of Commons Chamber on Thursday 8 December 2016. This debate was scheduled by the Backbench Business Committee following a representation from John Baron MP.

This debate pack provides a summary of the independent Cancer Taskforce’s five-year strategy for cancer, Achieving World-Class Cancer Outcomes: A Strategy for England 2015-2020, which was published in July 2015, and recent progress reports on the implementation of this strategy from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer (Progress into the implementation of the England Cancer Strategy: One year on. September 2016) and NHS England (Achieving world-class cancer outcomes: A strategy for England 2015 – 2020 – One Year On, October 2016). This debate pack also includes statistics on cancer incidence, mortality and survival rates, and other relevant information, including press and parliamentary material.
