Recall of Parliament
This briefing paper discusses the procedure for recalling Parliament, as well as providing details of recent occasions when Parliament has been recalled.
There will be a debate on the report of the Lord Speaker's Committee on reform of the House of Lords. The debate will be led by Tommy Sheppard MP and will take place in Westminster Hall on Wednesday 15 November 2017 at 9.30am.
The Lord Speaker’s committee on the size of the House was established on 20 December 2016 to explore methods by which the size of the House of Lords can be reduced, commensurate with its current role and functions. The report of the committee was published on 31 October 2017.
