This paper answers common questions about how international travel from and to England is currently affected by restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Currently those travelling to the UK from red list countries must spend 10 full days in a managed quarantine hotel and take 2 PCR tests.
An e-petition (588072) calls for double vaccinated people travelling from red list countries to be exempt from quarantine hotels and able to “isolate at their place of residence”. The e-petition is now closed and received 104,003 signatures after six months.
The government published a response to the e-petition on July 6 2021, they emphasised that exemptions from staying at a managed quarantine hotel for those who have travelled from red list countries are “exceptional and limited”.
The e-petition will be debated in Westminster Hall on Monday 17 January at 4.30pm and be led by Tonia Antoniazzi MP on behalf of the Petitions Committee.
The Library will produce a briefing or material for the debate and this page will be updated when it is made available.
In this briefing, we set out responses to FAQs about demonstrating Covid status (otherwise called Covid status certification or vaccine passports) and use of the NHS Covid Pass in England.
This page provides an overview of what is known about the Omicron variant so far and a summary of the UK Government's response.
