• The number of people aged 18 or over claiming Jobseekers Allowance increased by 24,500 between May and June 2011 to 1.52 million people.
• The wider ILO measure of unemployment was 2.45 million in March-May 2011, a fall of 26,000 from the last quarter.
• The number of people in employment rose by 50,000 over the past quarter and by 309,000 over the past year to reach 29.28 million in March-May 2011
