Unemployment by Constituency, August 2011 (4 MB, PDF)
This paper contains labour market figures for parliamentary constituencies, as well as a summary of the latest national and regional statistics.
The latest data show:
• The number of people aged 18 or over claiming Jobseekers Allowance increased by 37,100 between June and July 2011 to 1.56 million people. This is the largest monthly increase since May 2009.
• The wider ILO measure of unemployment was 2.49 million in April-June 2011, a rise of 38,000 from the last quarter.
• The number of people in employment rose by 25,000 over the past quarter and by 251,000 over the past year to reach 29.27 million in April-June 2011.
• There were 449,000 job vacancies in the three months to July 2011, down 22,000 from the last quarter and the lowest since the three months to November 2009

The National Minimum Wage Bill 2019-21 was introduced by Paula Barker MP following the Private Members' Bills Ballot on 9 January 2020. First reading took place on 5 February 2020. The Bill's second reading was due to take place on 15 January 2021, but was cancelled following an Order of the House on 13 January 2021. We do not have a date for the rearranged Second Reading.
