• The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance decreased by 41,700 between August and September 2013 to 1.35 million people aged 18 or over, the lowest level since January 2009.
• The ILO measure of unemployment was 2.49 million people in June-August 2013, down 18,000 from the previous quarter and down 40,000 from the previous year. The unemployment rate was 7.7%.
• The number of people in employment was 29.87 million in June-August 2013, up 155,000 from the previous quarter and up 279,000 on the previous year. The employment rate was 71.7%.
