• The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance decreased by 36,700 between October and November 2013 to 1.27 million people aged 18 or over, the lowest level since January 2009.
• The unemployment rate was 7.4% in August-October 2013. The ILO measure of unemployment was 2.39 million people, down 99,000 from the previous quarter and down 121,000 from the previous year.
• The number of people in employment was 30.09 million in August-October 2013, up 250,000 from the previous quarter and up 485,000 from the previous year. The employment rate was 72.0%.
