The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance decreased by 33,600 between June 2014 and July 2014, to 1.01 million people aged 18 or over, the lowest level since September 2008.
The unemployment rate was 6.4% in April-June 2014. The ILO measure of unemployment was 2.08 million people, down 132,000 from the previous quarter and down 437,000 from the previous year.
The number of people in employment was 30.60 million in April-June 2014, up 167,000 from the previous quarter and up 820,000 from the previous year. The employment rate was 73.0%.
