The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance or not in employment and claiming Universal Credit decreased by 26,800 between November and December 2014, to 886,200.
The unemployment rate was 5.8% in September to November 2014. The ILO measure of unemployment was 1.91 million people, down 58,000 from the previous quarter and down 418,000 from the previous year.
The number of people in employment was 30.80 million in September to November 2014, up 37,000 from the previous quarter and up 512,000 from the previous year. The employment rate was 73.0%.
