The downloadable Excel file lists living former Members of the Commons. The data includes the date on which each Member first entered the House of Commons, the date on which their membership ended and their party affiliation when they left the House of Commons. The records, including dates of service and breaks in service, of individual MPs can be found on the Find MPs page on the parliament website.

Some MPs go on to sit in the House of Lords – this information is also included. MPs awarded a peerage may not currently be Members of the House of Lords. A list of all current members of the House of Lords who previously sat in the House of Commons is available in a briefing published by the House of Lords Library.

The Association of Former Members of Parliament was established in 2001 to facilitate social contact between former Members of both Houses and to maintain links with the two Houses and their administrative committees.

Source details are available in the Excel file.
