The aviation sector has been included in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme from 1 January 2012 as part of EU efforts to reduce emissions by 20% by 2020.

The aviation sector has been included in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme from 1 January 2012 as part of efforts to reduce emissions by 20% by 2020. The scheme covers all airlines flying to and from the EU and has been met with opposition from Governemnts and airlines from outside the EU.

A Westminster Hall debate on transport links between Scotland and the rest of the UK will be held on Wednesday 8 January 2025, from 2:30 to 4:00pm. The debate will be led by John Lamont MP (Conservative, Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk).
The primary aim of the Crown Estate Bill (Bill 135 of 2024–25) is to remove limitations on the Crown Estate’s borrowing powers and the types of assets if can invest in. It originated in the Lords, where it was amended. The bill will have its second reading in the House of Commons on 7 January 2025.
