A briefing paper which "maps" (or summarises) the main elements of the United Kingdom's uncodified constitution.
This note sets out where elections will take place across the UK in 2012.

Elections are due on Thursday 3 May 2012 in 128 English local authorities (including 36 Metropolitan Boroughs) and all Councils in Wales (22 authorities) and Scotland (32 authorities). Elections will also be held on the same day for the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. Referendums will be held in eleven cities in England to determine whether or not to introduce directly-elected mayors.
The first elections for police commissioners in England are scheduled for 15 November 2012.
