    Cancer: Waiting Times for Diagnosis and Treatment

    How long do patients wait for cancer diagnosis and treatment? This note outlines NHS performance trends relating to cancer testing, treatment and care. In 2014 there were 1.5m urgent GP referrals with suspected cancer. This is 53% higher than in 2010. 272,000 patients began treatment for cancer, up 12% on 2010. Of these, 129,000 had previously been urgently referred by their GP, up 25% on 2010.

The Bill also includes measures intended to exempt the NHS from the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) Treaty.

    Care Bill [HL] Committee Stage Report

    The Bill would consolidate existing legislation for adult social care in England into a single framework, and introduce reforms to the way care and support is accessed and funded. It also includes reforms to the regulation of health services and care standards, and would establish Health Education England (HEE) and the Health Research Authority (HRA) as statutory non-departmental public bodies. The final section of the Bill would enable the establishment of the Better Care Fund to promote joint working between the NHS and care and support services.
