The government proposes reducing the voting age to 16, reviewing voter ID, improving voter registration and strengthening political donation rules.

This paper has been prepared for the House of Commons Second Reading stage of the High Speed Rail (London-West Midlands) Bill, scheduled for 28 April.

The Bill confers the powers required to construct Phase One of the proposed HS2 scheme from London Euston to Birmingham Curzon Street and Lichfield with intermediate stations in West London (Old Oak Common) and at Birmingham Airport.
