• The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance decreased by 27,600 between December 2013 and January 2014 to 1.22 million people aged 18 or over, the lowest level since December 2008.
• The unemployment rate was 7.2% in October-December 2013. The ILO measure of unemployment was 2.34 million people, down 125,000 from the previous quarter and down 161,000 from the previous year.
• The number of people in employment was 30.15 million in October-December 2013, up 193,000 from the previous quarter and up 396,000 from the previous year. The employment rate was 72.1%.
