Gender based pricing is the practice of charging a different price for the same consumer goods or services on the basis of gender. Recently, the issue has come to the fore with the publication of research undertaken by the Times, which found price disparities across a wide range of gender-targeted items, with those marketed at women 37 per cent more expensive on average.
