Notes and sources

These modelled estimates are based on data published by NHS Digital in Quality and Outcomes Framework 2022/23. This publication includes data for each GP practice in England about the prevalence of 21 health conditions among their registered patients.

Our analysis joins QOF practice-level prevalence data with further NHS Digital data on patient residence – specifically, on the small areas (LSOAs) where patients registered to each practice live. These estimates are aggregated to MSOAs, constituencies and regions to produce the data shown above.

You can read more about the methodology on our GitHub project local-health-data-from-QOF, which also includes R code.

This data is only available for England. Equivalent data for GP practice populations isn’t available for Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.

The data presented here is based on modelled estimates and not exact counts.
